- After making a generalization about a time period insert the following "clincher" statement, "that's the (insert decade)'s baby."
- Example: "The 1830's were a very romantic time period, that's the 1830's baby."
- State the obvious. Never underestimate this oldy but goldy. Restating the obvious can be a proficient answer to some questions, and can make a vague point very precise.
- When in doubt relate the point you're making to the Treaty of Utrect. Everything, and I mean everything, in European history can be blamed on the Treaty of Utrecht.
- Don't just keep talking, at some point you have to give up.
- Compare what you are saying to Iraq. Trust me.
